La dieta blanca
Performance (1 h 30 min)
Obertura Carabanchel, Galería Nueva, Madrid
November 2024. Made for the first time in 2018

In the room, a medium-sized table was set. On a white tablecloth, a variety of white-colored foods were arranged. The artist sat down to eat the banquet, dressed in white from head to toe and wearing red makeup. The audience had the option to sit across from her and observe as she ate.
Taking inspiration from artists like Sophie Calle (The Chromatic Diet) and Marina Abramović (The Artist is Present), this piece explores the role of boundaries and rules in the everyday experience of being. By removing a mundane activity from its usual context and placing it in a gallery, the work allows the audience to interact with their own perception in new and different ways.

For the first edition of this work a set of instructions from a creative writing workshop served as the foundation. Reinterpreting Sophie Calle’s Chromatic Diet, I imposed a set of rules on myself: for one week, I ate only white foods and dressed entirely in white. I wanted to explore how self-imposed rules would affect my body and mind.
Considering various philosophies and their exploration of how most of our behavior is determined by rules we establish—and choose not to break—this piece invites the audience to question the veracity of my actions, which have taken place in the privacy of my own space.
