Katarsis is a two-hour performance in which local minerals were washed with milk and wine over a bed of ice. This work is the result of site-specific research into Orphism, local minerals, and certain ancient Greek rituals. Each time we stepped down a tier of the amphitheater, we exchanged the liquid. As time passed, our bodies began to attune to one another. 

The performance ends when the local women’s association for the preservation of traditions sings mirolois (lament songs). We each carried a stone and placed it in a crescent moon shape, completing the circle. The body emerges from its catharsis and becomes injured—the skin of the hands breaks open.
